Why Liquid feeding?

In modern pig fattening and pig breeding the liquid feeding has become indispensable for many years. There are number of reasons that support liquid feeding system:

  • very good feed conversion by exact distribution of food;
  • low fattening period and thus better utilization of capital expenditures;
  • no feed loss by dust formation;
  • pigs absorb soupy food faster on warm days;
  • warm feeding possible;
  • short feeding times ensure peace in the stable;
  • animal control at the moment of feeding provides maximum safety;
  • feeding various by-products possible (potato pulp, corn silage, CCM, bread with whey, etc.);
  • tube feeding system is suitable for long since trough and across trough, as well as any old and new stable;
  • several stables can be connected to a single feed-station;
  • dosing of additive for groups and individual animals possible automatically;
  • optimal analysis and management support through automatic storage of consumption data.

Liquid feeding fattening pigs

Liquid feeding for fattening pigs has proven its worth in pig fattening in small and large companies tens of years. 
The user can choose between different configurations:

  • restrictive phase feeding with water-refresh program
  • restrictive phase feeding with feed and discount control over sensor
  • sensor ad libitum feeding with daily quantity limit

Liquid feeding piglets

The liquid piglet feeding has become increasingly important in the last years. Sensor-controlled ad libitum feeding with water-refresh system provide the ultimate in animal health, hygienics and growth of the piglets.

Liquid feeding sows

The liquid feeding system for sows is an indispensable part of the modern pig breeding. By absorbing enough water during feeding, there are less problems with MMA and constipation. By directed release of feed the animals are optimally conditioned. The system is suitable for gilts, empty sows, insemination and gestating sows and farrowing sows.

Combines systems

The structural change to larger closed pig units can not be stopped. Professional pig fattening and pig breeding farms need a consistent feeding concept, which complies with all branches of production. Here, the feed should be stored central, rehashed, and then dosed easily and accurately over long distances in the respective stable compartments.

New software programs for WINfeed®

Since 2012, new software programs running on the operating system Windows 7 Embedded are available.
Feeding processes are getting smarter and networking, remote maintenance and diagnostics are getting more extensive. Therefore Meyer-Lohne attaches great importance that user can constantly control and monitor their feeding system with easy to use visualization and control programs.

The new software programs based on the premise of control, visualization and remote maintenance. The user get more look insight the control processes of its automated feeding system. The powerful new easy-to-use WINfeed programs also provide a detailed analysis and archiving of all operating data.

WINfeed® hand terminal

Independent of the telephone network Meyer-Lohne offers a hand terminal, which automatically detects the valve cove with a barcode. All valve data are stored in your terminal and are available to view or correct directly on the cove. Handwritten notes in the stable are voided. It is operated via touch screen, stylus or keyboard. The WINfeed hand terminal is dust-proof and splash-proof and also can be used as a mobile phone.

Weighing systems

An important advantage of the Meyer-Lohne liquid feeding systems is the accurate electronic weighing technology. The stepped program between 100 and 10.000 kg weighing sensors made of stainless steel allows customer-specific applications from 100 up to 60.000 kg.

The unique 3-wire BUS valve connection by Meyer-Lohne is a milestone and unrivaled in the feeding technology.
As the only manufacturer Meyer-Lohne has certified the protection class IP 69K according to VDE. This ensures that the intrusion of water and steam in cleaning the stables by high pressure cleaner (up to 100 bar and 80 degrees Celsius) is also prevented with the use of disinfectants.

Feeding station

The feeding station is the most important point of any feeding system. This ist where food components are stored and mixed. The size of the operation, the distance to the stables and the type of feeding determine the size and location of the feeding station. Therefore, during the planning phase, particular emphasis is placed on short distances and small amounts.


The premium Meyer-Lohne mixing tanks are made of stainless steel as standard. Due to the square shape and the five parts per tank our mixing tanks fits through any door and allow a cheap transportation. For large farms or as pre-mix tanks one part tanks are available up to 30.000 litres.

Tank cleaning

To grant the hygiene in a mixing tank for a full automatic liquid feeding system, Meyer-Lohne offers a two phases tank clean. After each mixing process the tank is cleaned with cold water by spray heads. Compressed air is sprayed at least once a day with small amounts of highly concentrated acid sputter in the tank by an acid atomizer. In this way, unwanted residues are almost completely removed.

MEYLO® agitators

The MEYLO® turbo agitator with gear motor mixes the feed components. The unique concept of the turbo pump stirring wing allows an almost splash-free homogeneous stirring. In conjunction with a square tank a perfekt mix precision arrives. Since the hole MEYLO® agitator is made of stainless steel, a long lifetime is guaranteed as standard.

MEYLO® eccentric pumps

For viscous media, thick mushy mixtures or even long ways of lines Meyer-Lohne offers a stepped range of Eccentric pumps from own production. In conjunction with frequency converter and pressure sensors, the discharge and the pressure adjustment is infinitely variable. Thus, a dose out of small quantities for farrowing sows and baby piglets is guaranteed.

MEYLO® foreign body separator

For by-products and heavily contaminated feed Meyer-Lohne offers a separator from own production, which is installed between the tank and the pump. For very large usage there is a foreign body separator up to 300 liters with electrically powered cutter.

Valves & Piping

The feed is pumped through acid-resistant PVC pipes and PVC diaphragm valves. Piping and valves are available in diameters of 32, 40, 50 and 63 mm. The electro-pneumatic feed diaphragm valves have been proven thousands of times. As standard, all valves are delivered with a manual emergency switch and LED indication.

Stainless steel troughs and stabling grid

The use of high quality stainless steel troughs is essential for a high standard of hygiene especially in sensor feeding. Meyer-Lohne deliveres specially sized stainless steel troughs for baby piglets and fattening pigs with and without stabling grid.

Liquid additive dosing

With the liquid additive dosing station additives can be quickly and easily prepared and fed into the liquid feeding in liquid and dry form. The dosage is about three options:
1. directly into the mixing tank for the whole operation,
2. the injection into a feed stub for a group of animals or a compartment or
3. a separate circuit to each valve by an additive valve into the outlet pipe.

PRO MEDOS PREMIUM additive dispenser

Pro Medos Premium is Meyer-Lohne's user-friendly and software-supported additive dispenser for pigs. By using high-precision weighing technology there exists a possibility to precisely dose and automate the prozess of mixing and dosing in liquid feeding branch lines. A further particular benefit to users is the exact documentation about in which compartments or which animals with which additive in what quantities and at which time was distributed. Saving process and data evaluation is effected via the additional software module of the WINfeed feeding computer. It is also possible to export data into an excel-file.

Meyer-Lohne has developed a fermentation unit of liquid feeding components in which feeding components can be mutually be fermented through the addition of fermentation aids (lactic acid bacteria) in two tanks (Fermentors). Fully automatically the WINfeed fermentation software controls and monitors the fermentation process. The advantages are convincing: an improved feed conversion, a higher animal health, an uniformly food homogeneity and a higher economic efficiency.

Corn silage-mixing-procedure

Corn silage is a beneficially raw fibre source for pig fattening and sow-management. Fibres promote welfare of the animals, their health and reduce feeding costs. In a premixing tank with an upstream MEYLO-cutter the water-corn silage-mixture is being supplied as a component to the liquid feeding tank.
